Brian founded Fit2train in 1999 after coaching for various Dallas based training programs including; Lukes Dallas Fit and Beat the Heat Cross training program, Galloway Marathon Training Program and the Train to End Stroke program. He left the full time world of i2 Technologies and raced professional in 2001/2002 and finished in the 6th overall at Gulf Coast having the fastest bike split (2:10) and later was featured as a Computrainer athlete in their marketing material.
He has completed 8 Ironman races included 4 Hawaii Ironman World Championships and has placed in the top 25 Overall at Ironman Lake Placid and Ironman California. He has also won several local triathlons / duathlons including: Athens, Try Paris, Du to Du (long and short),Two White Dogs Duathlon and is a former USCT CAT V Time Trial and Criterium Champion. Brian is also a 2 time winner of the Texas Time Trials 6 Hour race and the current course record holder.
Brian's most proud of his 6th place finish at the Gulf Coast Half Ironman where he had the fastest bike split (2:10) and averaged 25.6 mph and received a $500 bonus from Computrainer. It was after this race that Brian was offered the position as spokesperson for Computrainer.
Brian is married (Adrian) and has a 3 year old boy (William). He is also the Publisher of Competitor Texas magazine and enjoys playing Xbox and playing paint ball and basketball and spending time with his family.
Chuck HobbsTeam Fit2train Coach and Personal Athletic Coach
USAT Level 1 Certified Coach
Chuck has been a Fit2train coach since July 2006. He previously coached for Run On! and was a member of the Adidas racing team. He currently coaches runners, cyclists, and triathletes of all ability levels, from first time Ironman competitors to Olympic Trials caliber runners. Chuck still competes in road and trail races as well as cycling events. He owns pr's ranging from 16:18 for 5K to 2:36 for the marathon. Chuck also writes a monthly column for the Phast Times News, a local multisport publication.
Chuck enjoys the challenge of helping the Fit2train athletes train with their brains as much as their bodies. One of his favorite quotes is "training smart is more important than training hard." Chuck believes racing and training intelligently will lead to more success and fewer injuries. Once you are grounded in training principles, He will push you to become better than you thought possible.
Chuck's passion for coaching is matched by his love and support for Michelle and their children, LJ, Casey, and Ewok. In his spare time he enjoys NASCAR and political discourse.
Richie HarpelTeam Fit2train Assistant Coach – Adventure Racing Program
Richie has a diverse multisport background that includes mountain biking, adventure racing, ultra trail running, marathons and triathlons. He continues to participate in all of these activities and enjoys introducing them to others. Richie has been a member of Fit2Train for 4 years and has coached for 2 years.
Richie has been very successful adventure racing, consistently placing in the top teams at races ranging from 2 to 3 hour sport courses to multiday races. He and his adventure race team (Outcast) recently completed the EPIC 48 Hour Adventure Race in a total time of 38 hours to win overall at the longest adventure race in Texas. “Getting others involved for the first time in a sport like adventure racing is so much fun! It’s completely different from anything most people have ever done.”
When Richie’s not training, coaching or racing he’s probably busy with his design company, Rubber Duck Creative. You may have seen some of his work, as he is the creative mind behind the Fit2Train website, uniforms and promotional materials.
Stacy LaningaTeam Fit2train Assistant Coach
Stacy has been competing in triathlons for seven years, the last four years with Fit2Train. She has competed in all distances of triathlons including several half Iron distance races as well as IronMan Coeur d’Alene in 2006. Stacy also is a member of Half2Run – an online group with the goal of running half marathons in half the states. Her favorite race distance is the half (half marathon, half IronMan). Her training philosophy is to have fun, even when going all-out.
Stacy works in the marketing/communications department for an international architecture firm, and is in the process of earning a master’s degree in professional counseling. She loves music, playing Rock Band and all things trivia-related.
Ryan CooperTeam Fit2train Assistant Coach
Ryan Cooper is new to the coaching staff but has been an active member of Fit2Train since 2004. Ryan is an avid triathlete who has steadily risen in the results due to his training and hard work as part of Fit2Train. Ryan has a running background and will be primarily helping with Track and running workouts. Often way too much of him can be seen at Tuesday morning track workouts running his favorite distance the 400. Ryan is looking forward to helping others reach their goals as he has done since joining Fit2Train. In his spare time Ryan enjoys watching zombie movies, putt-putt, and sailing.
