How did you get into triathlon?
My fraternity brother, Sean Boyd, suggested that we do a Biathlon (Duathon in TX) and the Phili - DC AIDS Ride in our senior year. Did both and had a great time. Decided that I wanted to do the Hawaii Ironman one day. I have done 4 Hawaii's and 4 other IM

How long have you been doing triathlon?
Since 1995

Favorite workout?
Well.. now it's the Saturday group ride and my Sunday long run before church. Good for the body and good for the spirit.

Do you have training partners?
Currently I enjoy training with Team Fit2train and occasionally riding/running on my own for stress relief. Past favorite training partners whom I owe some credit to: Gavin Cole, Dan Driscoll, Jim Kerr, Eric Koenigs, Victoria Piper, Larry Schwartz

Best Race?
Gulf Coast Half IM 1999? 4:06, $500 for fastest bike split , 6th Overall

Worst Race?
Gulf Coast several times.... had to jog it in since I cooked myself on the bike. Still under 5 hours though.

Why you do triathlons?
Originally because I wanted to get as fit as possible and kick everyones ass! Now, just to remain healthy and keep some form of fitness. It's also a great way to train without doing too much of any one thing. Keeps the workouts fresh.

What's next for you?
IM CDA 2012... time get my butt in gear.

Most embarrassing moment doing sports?
Swimming an extra lap at the Tom Landry Triathlon one year. That was my bad.... Most pissed off moment in sports: Tom Landry Triatlon 2004 when I was leading the race (and would have won despite what some other say) and was led off course by the lead poli

around 5:30 a. m. on Tues/Thur workout days - 7am on others.

Breaking Benjamins,

Out of all 3 sports- which is your favorite?
Cycling, Running, Swimming (well, I like it in the outdoor pool in the summer)

Depends on the workout. Shorter than 1 hour water. Greater than 1 hour, Power Gel, Sports/Drink (Power Bar).

Mexican food

Spouse/Significant Other?
Adrian - wife / William - son / Allison - daughter / Pokey - dog and a few fish and lizards.

Other sports interest?
I have started to do some mtn biking and off road events. Much more skill oriented then fitness oriented.

Something that you like to do that is not sports related?
Spend time with my wife and little boy. Read the newspaper/ hang out with friends.

Favorite TV show/movie?
TV Show: Nip Tuck / Movie: Final Countdown (it's where the USS Nimitz goes back in time to fight the Japanes before the attack on Pearl Harbor)

Greatest motivator?
Previously it was to get as fast and fit as I could so I could win races. Now it's to stay healthy, be a good role model to my son and give something back to the triathlon commuity.... and of course $$$$$.

Moved around a lot with my parents who were in the military. Grew up in Annandale, VA (about 20 minutes outside of Washington, D.C.) I now consider Dallas, TX my home.

Interesting fact about yourself?
I won my High School talent show my Senior year and was voted "Most Talented". I wanted to be a professional bass guitar player… Also, I was and still am a huge history buff.... I was going to major in History in college but decided to just get a minor.

What do you like to do to get away from triathlon?
Get away from it? I spend about 15 hours a day, writing, talking, coaching, working out or hearing about triathlon. Not sure I could get away if I wanted to. We have gotten to visit some cool places and met some great people because of triathlon.
