I wandered into Quality Assurance of digital marketing at an Ad Agency after a background in Electrical Engineering in the defense industry

How did you get into triathlon?
In Sept 05, I was fat and knew I needed to do something. I started running on my MWF lunch breaks and worked up to running a mile without stopping, and then I got a bike and started cycling on T-Th lunches in the spring. In March 2007, I saw an email about the Fit2Train rookie program and decided I could learn to swim and say i did a sprint tri just to say i did one. I got addicted, though, so I'm still here. :)

Started with the Fit2Train rookie program in March 07

Favorite workout?
Bike Intervals, Long Bike Rides, Trail Runs

Do you have training partners?

Best Race?
White Rock Half Marathon '08 because I shocked myself by dropping the pace group I planned to run with, and the 2011 Branson 70.3 when I ran through a monsoon and didn't realize what place I was in until I'd been done for a while, but actually qualified for Vegas

Worst Race?
New Orleans 70.3 - in '09 I had a flat 10 minutes into the bike, and another at the 20km sign. I decided to ride until I saw a SAG, but never did, so I did 43 of the 56 miles with a flat tire. In '10, I caught a stomach virus the week before and foolishly tried (unsuccessfully) to race on prescription Imodium AD. I didn't learn my lesson and tried racing when sick for the '10 Austin 70.3, too, though. :)

Why you do triathlons?
I like seeing how much I can push myself. It's a lot easier to work out if I have a goal to work for besides simply trying to get in shape. Plus, its a fun community

What's next for you?
for 2013: St. George 70.3 and then seeing what makes sense with injury recovery and adjusting to married life and a new church.

Most embarrassing moment doing sports?
My 1st race was at Metroplex Sprint '07: before the race I had a broken valve stem & a popped spare tube. I almost missed my wave while looking for another spare & a valve extender. The valve extender rolled off during my swim, so I spent 20 min in T1 searching....with my family standing outside of the transition area waiting to cheer my first race. I might hold a record for longest T1 in a sprint, but I finished! :)

Running Shoe that you wear?
Currently rotating Acics Speedstar, New Balance Miniumus and MT110, and Zoot Ultra TT 5.0

What time do you wake up?
I'm trying to keep evenings family time except for swim, so normally 5:30 to get in a ride or run before work and about 6:30 on Saturdays. occasionally, 7:30 if it's vacation. :)

Favorite song to train to?
music while you train?!?

Out of all 3 sports- which is your favorite?
cycling, but running and swimming have grown on me

What kind of food do you eat during a workout?
InfinIT or water and Gu/Honey Stinger on long rides. otherwise you don't need anything

read, watch movies, sleep, eat out, play with my dog

haven't had TV in a while. The Office & How I Met Your Mother were new & good when I last had it.

seeing myself improve

What do you like to do to get away from triathlon?
eat, sleep, read, tv/movies, hang out with friends
