How did you get into triathlon?
I'm a former high school swimmer and competed in Corporate Challenge with a bunch of triathletes. Based on their constant "encouragement", in August of 2007 I signed up for a very short, all-female sprint tri (with only a mountain bike). Loved it. Borrowed a road bike and completed two more sprints over the next 4 weeks.
How long have you been doing triathlon?
Consistently since summer of 2008.
Long swims. 30-40 mile rides.
Do you have training partners?
Disco 2009 baby! IMAZ was great. Loved Trifecta with all my teammates! CIM (marathon) in 2013. Deadwood, SD half marathon. Newport, RI half marathon. Crap...I'm a runner... :)
Green Bay half. Hot as heck. So hot they cancelled the race.
Why you do triathlons?
I need the motivation of a race and the diversity in training or I get bored and bail on working out.
What's next for you?
El Paso marathon, BVIs swim trip, Galveston 70.3, Cayman 1 mi and 10K swims, Wineglass marathon, Hartford half marathon, Rehoboth marathon. Crap...I'm a runner....
Most embarrassing moment doing sports?
Come watch me play tennis and you will see....
Running Shoe that you wear?
Mizuno Wave Inspire.
What time do you wake up?
As late as physically possible.
Favorite song to train to?
Out of all 3 sports- which is your favorite?
What kind of food do you eat during a workout?
Chocolate Outrage Gu. In the summer Lemon Sublime Gu.
Favorite food (regular)?
Mexican. Italian. Thai. Working out makes me very hungry.
Yes, please. ;)
Other sports interest?
Cardio tennis (but see also answer above on most embarrassing moment), kickboxing, adventure racing.
Something that you like to do that is not sports related?
Vacation! But somehow every vacation is centered around a race....
Favorite TV show/movie?
I'm rarely at home and don't have cable so I don't watch much TV. Love the movies though: Life is Beautiful, Shawshank Redemption, Old School, Talledaga Nights.
Physically challenged athletes who accomplish feats most of us would never attempt.
Interesting fact about yourself?
I was in the final stages of try-outs for the Kansas City Roller Warriors (the 2007 National Champs of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association) when I had to quit to move to Dallas for my new job. I was looking forward to getting 10 new tattoos and breaking a few bones (hopefully my opponent's and not mine). Would love to try out for one of the teams in Dallas but it is derby or triathlon due to the time commitments and right now triathlon is winning.
What do you like to do to get away from triathlon?
Catch a great flick in an ice-cold theater followed by a giant gelato! Call me if you need a workout break!!!
