How did you get into triathlon?
I loved to cycle but hated to run and could not swim that well. A friend of mine talked me into trying a triathlon. I totally sucked came in close to last and was absolutely hooked. I still can not swim that well.

How long have you been doing triathlon?
Seven years

Favorite workout?
Long ride on a minimally trafficked hilly route

Do you have training partners?
Yes, about a 100 of them in Fit to Train

Best Race?
Redman 70.3 in 2009, it was my first 70.3 and it was cold and rainy with a rough road for the bike. Bike time was terrible but ended up beating my race goal by 17 minutes and had a blast the entire race. 2010 8 Mile Turkey Trot in 57:46 (7:13 mile pace)

Worst Race?
2006 Cactus Tri in Austin was my first Oly and first time I had ever worn a wet suit, I had to call the boat over. I did finish the race but it was a struggle. 2009 Disco Sprint had a great swim and had a great bike going when I fell at the turn around point. It flatted my tire and I had to pull out of the race. Only time in 30 tri's that I have not finished

Why you do triathlons?
Tri's are a fun way to stay in great shape, I am competitive so I like that aspect of not only competing against others but largely with yourself. Most triathlete's I meet are really nice folks so the camaraderie is great.

What's next for you?
CapTex, Boise 70.3, Augusta 70.3, IMAZ

Most embarrassing moment doing sports?
I usually embarrass myself in any sporting event I do

Running Shoe that you wear?
Pearl Izumi and Asics for training and longer runs. Zoots for racing.

What time do you wake up?
Around 6:30 depending on the day

Favorite song to train to?
I love music so I can't pick a song but in heavy rotation on my Ipod is Ryan Adams, NIN, Queens of The Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth, Silver Sun Pickups, Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, and Old 97's to name a few

Out of all 3 sports- which is your favorite?
Cycling

What kind of food do you eat during a workout?
I usually stick to gels

Favorite food (regular)?
Tex/Mex and there is not a close second

Spouse/Significant Other?
Natalie, the friendly one who smiles and talks a lot.

Other sports interest?
Love college football and baseball, Hook'em Horns!

Something that you like to do that is not sports related?
Travel

Favorite TV show/movie?
Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Sarah Silverman show, Office Space, The Hang Over

Greatest motivator?
I am fortunate to be able bodied, healthy, and able to compete in triathlons. There are plenty of people who would like to be able to swim, run, or ride a bike that can't for one reason or another. I don't want to squander this gift of being active that I have been given.

Hometown?
Belton, TX

Interesting fact about yourself?
I have been to 26 countries and 48 states, that would be more interesting if I would have gotten a shot glass from every destination. I think it is interesting that I am a fifth generation Texan, some people just think that makes me a hick.

What do you like to do to get away from triathlon?
Golf, tennis, live concerts hang out with my dog, my friends, and family
