How did you get into triathlon?
After finishing law school, I was out of shape & had huge time gaps in my schedule. Went to a TNT recruiting meeting w. NO intention of signing up, just wanted to get motivated. Oops - signed up that night. No clue how I went from TNT to completing several Ironmans....

How long have you been doing triathlon?
Since 2001 - River Cities was my first race.

Favorite workout?
Saturday morning long bike.

Do you have training partners?
Not any more - now that I'm in Atlanta.

Best Race?
Ironman Arizona 2006

Worst Race?
Ironman Wisconsin 2006 - three flats, over two hours of walking my bike in the cold rain & finally dropping out.

Why you do triathlons?
For the socializing and the fitness (& so I can eat without getting too much fatter). It's also very empowering.

What's next for you?
Ironman Mont Treblanc - August 2013

Most embarrassing moment doing sports?
Showing up at my first ride with my huge, red 1979 Schwinn with a kickstand & reflectors. (Hence the source of several of my nicknames - Big Red & Kickstand)

What time do you wake up?
5:30 (Get up - 6:30).

Favorite song to train to?
Bat Out Of Hell - Meatloaf

Whining

What kind of food do you eat during a workout?
PowerGel, PowerBar

Favorite food (regular)?
Red Wine, Tony's Chicken Arabiata, Asparagus

Spouse/Significant Other?
Quincy (black/tan miniature wiener dog). I'm sure Mr. Right will just show up at my doorstep one day (that's about the only way I'll ever meet him - See #18).

Wine? Golf? Work?

Something that you like to do that is not sports related?
Play with Quincy, read, wine tasting.

DNF at Ironman Wisconsin

I am a Chemist by degree & had a full-ride basketball scholarship to Illinois State.
